Voltage Transformers Made in Japan
“Made in Japan” is a symbol of quality and reliance.
Japanese products have an overwhelming positive reputation especially in the consumer appliance sector. Electronics made in Japan (such as rice cookers, air purifiers, hot plates, etc.) are popular with foreign tourists as souvenirs for the high performance and excellent quality. Since electric voltages differ from country to country, a voltage transformer will be a must item if you intend to purchase electronic appliances in Japan for use in another country or vice versa. All our products are made in Japan and your satisfaction is guaranteed!
How do I know if I need a transformer?
To use Japanese-made electronics outside Japan
The voltage in Japan is 100V which is lower than most of other regions in the world. Check the power label or manual of your device for the wattage number and find out whether you need a (step-down) transformer for use outside of Japan:
Single voltage devices (indicated as“100V”,“110V”,etc.)
A plug converter may be needed instead of a voltage transformer.
*Note power supply of some devices such as laptops may not be compatible with high voltages.
A (step-down) voltage transformer is required.
Following types of transformers are recommended:
To use foreign-made electronics in Japan
The voltages in most of other regions in the world are higher than Japan so a step-up transformer will be needed when the voltage range of a foreign-made electronics does not include 100V. Check the power label or manual of your device for both the wattage and frequency numbers to see whether a transformer is required.
If the voltage range inckudes“100”,
If the voltage range does not include“100”,
A plug converter may be needed instead of a voltage transformer.
A (step-up) voltage transformer is required.
(Note: The frequency of electric current is 50 Hertz in Eastern Japan and 60 Hertz in Western Japan. Malfunctions may occur in some devices due to difference of frequency.)
Note: Application specifications vary from brand to brand. Check product label or manual for actual ratings. This guide should be used as a reference tool only. We cannot be held responsible for differences in wattages of your devices.
Items written in orange are heating appliances and 125% of wattage estimation is recommended.
Items written in blue are motorized appliances and 200% of wattage estimation is recommended.
150% of wattage estimation is recommended for continuous use over 30 minutes.
